Hyundai Sets July Sales Record and Adds Used EV Sales on Amazon
Hyundai reports record July 2025 U.S. sales with 79,543 units sold and expands Amazon Auto to include used vehicles, featuring EVs like IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9.
Hyundai Motor America wrapped up July 2025 with record-breaking U.S. sales while simultaneously expanding its digital retail channels. The automaker sold 79,543 vehicles during the month, marking a 15% increase from July 2024 and setting an all-time July high. Retail sales climbed 18% to 73,064 units, with electrified models accounting for 32% of the total mix. Sales of EVs and hybrids jumped 50%, led by a 71% surge in IONIQ 5 demand. Santa Fe sales increased by 57%, Palisade by 53%, and the hybrid Santa Fe posted a record 152% year-over-year rise. Electric models also saw strong results: 5,818 units for IONIQ 5, 949 for IONIQ 6, and 1,073 for the newly launched IONIQ 9.
The year has been filled with milestones for Hyundai. Hyundai Motor Group appeared for the first time on TIME’s list of the “100 Most Influential Companies,” the Tucson Hybrid was named one of Cars.com’s best vehicles for child seats, and the redesigned 2026 Palisade was unveiled with increased dimensions, dual digital displays, a hybrid powertrain, and enhanced safety technology.
Alongside these achievements, Hyundai has taken another bold step in digital transformation by starting to sell used and certified pre-owned vehicles on Amazon. Building on its existing new-vehicle program, Amazon Auto now allows customers to shop for pre-owned Hyundai models, including popular EVs. Buyers can complete the entire process online — from browsing and comparing cars to receiving trade-in estimates, securing financing, and scheduling pickup at a local dealer. Currently, used car sales are limited to Los Angeles, with plans to expand into more cities soon. Each vehicle comes with a 30-day/1,000-mile limited warranty and a 3-day/300-mile return policy.
Analysts attribute Hyundai’s recent success to its rapidly growing lineup of electrified vehicles and competitive pricing strategy, which positions it as a strong contender against Toyota and Tesla in the mass-market EV segment. Hyundai’s U.S. market share has grown to 5.3%, up from 4.9% a year ago. Despite existing tariffs on South Korean vehicles, Hyundai continues to strengthen its position with affordable electric SUVs, a new Hyundai Rewards loyalty program, and flexible purchasing options, including leases starting at $179 per month for the IONIQ 5 and $419 for the larger IONIQ 9.
