Bentley presents Ombre by Mulliner paint finish at The Quail
Bentley revealed Ombre by Mulliner, a complex hand-painted fade requiring 56 hours, debuting on the Continental GT Speed at The Quail, Monterey Car Week 2025.
Bentley has unveiled its new paint technique, Ombre by Mulliner, one of the most intricate finishes ever created by the brand. The debut took place on August 15, 2025, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week, where the public was introduced to a stunning Continental GT Speed painted in a gradient that shifts from Topaz at the front to Windsor Blue at the rear.
The process behind Ombre is highly demanding. The body is first sprayed in contrasting front and rear colors, after which paint specialists apply the fade in multiple stages using traditional mixing methods. It takes around 56 hours and the work of two technicians to achieve the effect. Each type of paint behaves differently, requiring constant adjustments during application. As a result, every car is unique, yet the gradient always appears seamless to the eye.
Ombre will be offered in three curated color combinations, though their exact names have not been disclosed. The first showcase on the Continental GT Speed demonstrated that this is more than a decorative flourish: it is a new level of personalization for Bentley. Even the 22-inch wheels match the body, with Topaz at the front and Windsor Blue at the rear.
The interior mirrors the exterior fade. Topaz tones dominate the front seats, dashboard and steering wheel, blending gradually into the darker Beluga at the rear. Dragonfly accents highlight stitching and piping, while Satin Beluga veneers, the Naim for Bentley audio system, and the Rotating Display complete the picture.
Reports from Monterey Car Week emphasized the complexity and exclusivity of this new paint finish. Bentley has confirmed that Ombre is now available to order through the global Mulliner retailer network. However, the company has not specified which models beyond the GT Speed will feature the option, and no pricing details have been released.
Within the framework of Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy, which commits the brand to a fully electric line-up by 2035, bespoke projects like Ombre highlight the role of personalization in sustaining exclusivity and profitability. For Mulliner, Ombre represents both a showcase of traditional craftsmanship and a reflection of modern expectations for individuality in luxury cars.
