Mercedes-Benz introduces DEEP SEA, a new fragrance inspired by ocean depths, created by Anne Flipo. Explore its composition, concept, and sustainable design.

Mercedes-Benz expands its fragrance line with DEEP SEA, pushing its water theme beyond the surface and into the depths of the ocean. The release builds on the “Land, Sea, Air” trilogy, but introduces a more layered and contrasted interpretation.

The composition is structured as a fougère marine with woody accents, combining a classic fougère backbone with aquatic elements. It opens with fresh mint, rosemary and juniper, creating an immediate sense of energy. The heart shifts toward the sea itself, where salty algae and samphire meet lavender. In the base, the fragrance turns warmer with sandalwood, patchouli and mineral, slightly smoky notes reminiscent of sun-bleached driftwood.

The scent was created by Anne Flipo, a master perfumer with over 30 years of experience and a portfolio that includes major international brands. Her involvement continues the logic of the trilogy, where each fragrance stands on its own while remaining compatible with the others.

DEEP SEA extends the concept introduced in 2023, inspired by the three elements represented by the Mercedes-Benz star. This time, the focus shifts from the openness of the sea to its depth, adding complexity and density to the marine theme.

Sustainability plays a central role in the project. Ingredients are sourced through LMR Naturals, a supplier known for natural materials and transparent sourcing practices. The packaging incorporates recycled aluminium, ocean plastic and algae-based paper produced using renewable energy.

The fragrance line has been part of Mercedes-Benz’s broader strategy since 2011, translating the brand’s values—technology, precision and premium experience—into products beyond the automotive sector. Following the 2023 trilogy and the Maybach collection in 2024, DEEP SEA marks another step in this direction.

The release also aligns with ongoing trends in men’s perfumery, where marine compositions remain popular and are increasingly combined with woody and mineral accords. DEEP SEA follows this direction while emphasizing a deeper, more structured profile.
