Polestar 5 Grand Tourer officially unveiled with performance focus
Polestar has unveiled the Polestar 5 Grand Tourer with up to 670 km range, 650 kW power and 800V tech. Pricing in Germany starts at €119,900.
Polestar has officially unveiled the Polestar 5 Performance Grand Tourer, the new flagship electric model that traces its roots back to the Precept concept. Revealed on September 8, 2025, the car translates the brand’s futuristic design and sustainability vision into a production reality.
In Germany, pricing starts at €119,900 for the Dual Motor and €142,900 for the Performance version. Both sit on the new aluminum Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA), noted for its rigidity and extensive use of recycled materials. The drivetrain combines an in-house developed rear motor with an 800-volt system, producing up to 650 kW and 1,015 Nm of torque. According to official figures, the Performance model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, while the Dual Motor requires 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Range is quoted at up to 670 kilometers WLTP for the Dual Motor and 565 kilometers for the Performance. Thanks to 350 kW DC charging capability, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.
Design-wise, the Polestar 5 retains the bold lines of the Precept. Its aerodynamically optimized body achieves a drag coefficient of 0.24, complemented by distinctive Dual Blade headlights and a panoramic glass roof stretching over two meters. Inside, the focus shifts to innovative materials such as flax-based BComp textiles, Econyl made from recycled fishing nets, and NFPP composites. Recaro seats balance support with comfort, while a 14.5-inch central display running Android Automotive OS with Google integration anchors the cabin’s digital features.
Sustainability remains at the core of Polestar’s strategy. The brand reports a 24.7 percent reduction in emissions per car since 2020 and is targeting a 50 percent cut by 2030, aiming for full climate neutrality by 2040 across its supply chain.
Market rollout reflects a selective approach. The Polestar 5 will launch in 24 countries, but the initial wave will exclude the United States and China. First deliveries in Europe are expected by the end of 2025, positioning the model to compete head-on with established rivals such as the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and Tesla Model S Plaid.
