Munich Police Receive 22 New Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer Patrol Vehicles
Mercedes-Benz handed over 22 Vito Tourer vans to Munich police for patrol and dog units, with Interior Minister Herrmann attending the ceremony.
Mercedes-Benz has handed over a fleet of 22 new Vito Tourer vehicles to the Munich police, primarily for use in patrol units and the city's service dog division. The handover ceremony took place at the Mercedes-Benz dealership on Arnulfstraße 61 and was attended by representatives of the automaker, local police, and Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann.
The vehicles are equipped with modern safety systems and features designed for the secure transport of dogs and their handlers. Among the highlights are MULTIBEAM LED headlights and a digital rear-view mirror, improving visibility and overall road safety. The Vito Tourer offers a spacious interior and can be configured to meet the needs of different police departments, making it a versatile choice for daily operations.
The police-specific conversion was carried out by Binz GmbH, a German specialist known for producing emergency service vehicles. Similar Vito Tourer-based vehicles are already in use by Munich’s fire department, underlining their reliability and suitability for urban service.
Interior Minister Herrmann emphasized that renewing the vehicle fleet is a crucial step in improving the efficiency and safety of police work. The delivery of these modern vehicles enhances comfort for officers and their four-legged partners, while enabling faster response times.
While exact specifications of the police vehicles have not been disclosed, official information about the Vito Tourer lineup highlights advanced safety systems, up-to-date onboard technology, and efficient diesel engines. Considering the size of Bavaria’s police fleet, this delivery can be seen as another milestone in the ongoing modernization of the region’s law enforcement equipment.
