Kia presents two exhibitions at Milan Design Week 2026, linking design philosophy with EV concepts. Explore how ideas turn into future mobility solutions.

Kia has gone beyond showcasing concept cars by linking its internal design philosophy directly to real vehicles, opening two interconnected exhibitions at Milan Design Week 2026. It is a rare case where a brand reveals both the thinking process and its tangible outcome at the same time.

The exhibitions are united under the theme “Resonance of Opposites”, an evolution of Kia’s Opposites United philosophy introduced in 2021. This approach is built on combining contrasts — from nature and technology to emotion and logic. In Milan, the idea unfolds through two parallel spaces that complement each other.

The first part, Journey of Reflection at Museo della Permanente, turns inward. Through light installations and interactive environments, it presents key traits of Kia Design: cultural ambition, creative risk-taking, and continuous innovation. The space reacts to visitors, shifting light and form to simulate the process of idea creation. Evening talks and performances by designers and artists extend this exploration.

The second exhibition, Journey of Projection at Salone dei Tessuti, translates those ideas into product reality. At its center are six vehicles — EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV9, and Vision Meta Turismo. Together, they form a structured preview of Kia’s future electric lineup, covering segments from compact urban cars to large SUVs.

This approach highlights a broader strategy. Rather than presenting isolated prototypes, Kia shows a continuous chain — from philosophy to production-ready design. This aligns with the company’s expanding EV portfolio, where models from EV2 to EV9 already define the framework of its future range.

The context of Milan Design Week reinforces the significance of this move. As one of the world’s leading design events, it has become a platform where automotive brands participate in cultural dialogue, not just product presentation. For Kia, this is the fourth consecutive year, with a noticeably deeper and more structured narrative.

The role of design leadership is also central. Karim Habib, head of Kia Global Design, connects internal creative exploration with final product outcomes, emphasizing sustainability and continuous development. In Milan, that connection is made visible through the transition from “Reflection” to “Projection.”

As a result, the exhibitions function as a single journey. Visitors move from abstract ideas to physical vehicles, revealing how Kia’s design language is formed and why it plays a key role in the brand’s shift toward electrified mobility.
