FIAT and Wallpaper present Topolino mobility project at Milan Design Week 2026, linking travel guides, urban routes and design culture. Explore the full story.

FIAT turned four compact electric Topolino vehicles into moving landmarks across Milan, sending them out from a Wallpaper* kiosk to guide visitors through Milan Design Week 2026. The initiative marks a central part of the brand’s collaboration with the magazine, tied to the relaunch of the Wallpaper Travel Guides.

The concept unfolds through a carefully constructed urban experience. Wallpaper* took over a traditional Milanese kiosk and transformed it into a design installation and meeting point, where visitors can access the guides and begin their journey. From this location, starting April 20, the four Topolino cars set off across the city, acting not just as transport, but as curated entry points into Milan’s design landscape.

Each vehicle directs visitors to locations featured in the new Travel Guides, effectively turning mobility into a structured exploration of the city. This approach mirrors the philosophy behind the guides themselves, which have been relaunched after 20 years and focus on design-led travel, covering architecture, hospitality and cultural routes.

The broader context reinforces the significance of the project. Milan Design Week, running from April 20 to 26, 2026 alongside Salone del Mobile, gathers more than 1,900 exhibitors and spans over 169,000 square metres of exhibition space. Within this scale, even small-scale mobility solutions like the Topolino become part of a larger narrative about how cities are experienced and navigated.

The Topolino itself reflects this shift. As a compact electric quadricycle with a range of around 75 km and a top speed of 45 km/h, it is designed for short urban journeys. At Design Week, it functions as both a mobility solution and a cultural interface, connecting visitors with the city in a more direct and experiential way.

The collaboration also links to FIAT’s broader presence at the event. The CIAO FUTURO! space on Via Tortona, highlighted in the Wallpaper Design Week map, expands the narrative by exploring the relationship between the brand’s heritage, contemporary design and future urban mobility scenarios, including contributions from design schools.

Rather than presenting a standalone product or installation, FIAT and Wallpaper* create a system where vehicles, media and urban space intersect. The result is a format that suggests a different way of engaging with the city — through guided movement, design objects and interconnected cultural points embedded within Milan Design Week.
