MINI presents 14 vehicles at Auto China 2026, including MINI x Vagabund and JCW × DEUS projects, showing its focus on customization and design collaborations. Learn more.

MINI arrived in Beijing with 14 vehicles that turn customization into the core of the brand’s identity, presenting cars not as standard products but as personal statements shaped by design, culture and community.

The most striking project is the MINI x Vagabund collaboration, built on the MINI Countryman S ALL4. Two one-off vehicles feature widened wheel arches, a raised stance and 20-inch wheels with 3D-printed elements. The rear side windows have been replaced by a bespoke high-performance sound system, transforming the car into a mobile soundscape. Only one of the two vehicles is shown in Beijing, while both are intended to appear at future community-driven events.

This approach continues with the MINI JCW × DEUS “The Skeg”, an electric show car developed together with Deus Ex Machina. Its semi-transparent fiberglass body reduces weight by around 15% while improving airflow. Design elements directly reference surf culture, from the shape of the rear spoiler to the roof-mounted straps inspired by surfboard transport. The project is part of a wider collaboration that combines MINI’s performance DNA with lifestyle-driven design.

The exhibition also highlights how this philosophy extends beyond one-off concepts. MINI presents a range of production models, special editions and design partnerships, including the MINI Paul Smith Edition. This collaboration, which began in 1998, continues to focus on individuality through unique colors, materials and unexpected details while maintaining its British design roots.

The full breadth of the MINI lineup is on display, from compact urban models to larger vehicles like the MINI Countryman, the brand’s biggest model, available with fully electric variants offering up to 501 kilometers of WLTP range. The John Cooper Works range adds a performance dimension, showing that customization at MINI also includes dynamic expression.

Beijing serves as a strategic stage. MINI presents market-specific editions for China and reinforces its position in a key automotive region. At the same time, global figures show a broader shift: the brand is growing, and more than one in three vehicles delivered worldwide is now fully electric.

In this context, the message becomes clear. Customization is no longer an optional feature for MINI. It defines the product itself, from experimental one-offs to series production models and long-term design collaborations.
