XPENG effectively outlined what the future of mobility could look like at Auto China 2026, bringing together a Level 4 robotaxi, a humanoid robot, a flying vehicle, and its VLA 2.0 intelligent driving system as parts of a single Physical AI ecosystem rather than standalone products.

The focus shifted from vehicles to a broader technological platform. Alongside new models such as the GX, MONA M03, the next-generation P7, and the X9, the company demonstrated how its AI developments integrate into one system. At the center is VLA 2.0, designed for complex real-world scenarios including unmarked roads, low visibility, and environments without high-definition maps. Public test drives have already been conducted across hundreds of retail locations, with high user engagement and widespread activation of intelligent driving features during the first days of ownership.

This approach matters for the market because XPENG is not emphasizing incremental progress in autonomy but rather accelerating toward higher levels. Company materials and industry reports point to a direct focus on Level 4 capabilities and reduced reliance on HD maps. The system has already attracted external interest, with Volkswagen identified as a commercial partner planning to adopt VLA 2.0 technology in China.

The GX drew particular attention as a robotaxi prototype designed for mass production. It is equipped with up to four in-house AI chips delivering around 3,000 TOPS of computing power. XPENG plans to begin pilot robotaxi services in 2026, positioning the GX as part of a broader autonomous mobility strategy that will extend to future versions of its vehicle lineup.

Beyond automotive applications, XPENG continues to expand into adjacent fields. The humanoid robot IRON features 82 degrees of freedom, a human-like structure, and proprietary AI chips, with commercial use cases targeted as early as 2026. Another project, the Land Aircraft Carrier, combines a six-wheeled ground vehicle with a detachable eVTOL module. Trial production has begun, and deliveries are expected by the end of 2026, with pricing estimated around $280,000–$300,000 and thousands of pre-orders already recorded.

The broader context reinforces the significance of these developments. XPENG’s overseas deliveries exceeded 45,000 units in 2025, nearly doubling year over year, while the company continues to expand its presence in Europe and prepare new model launches for international markets.

As a result, Auto China 2026 served not just as a product showcase but as a demonstration of XPENG’s strategic direction. By combining electric vehicles, autonomous driving, robotics, and flying mobility, the company is positioning itself as a provider of an integrated AI-driven mobility ecosystem.
