Jetour unveils the G700, a hybrid SUV with 751 hp, 1400 km range, adaptive suspension, and swimming mode. See how it rivals Tank 700 and YangWang U8.

Jetour has officially unveiled its new flagship SUV, the G700, marking one of the most striking debuts of the year. Known until now for city-friendly crossovers, the brand has taken a bold leap forward. The G700 is the first model of Jetour’s premium Zongheng sub-brand and its first true body-on-frame off-roader.

Design and Platform

The G700 blends cues from the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser 250, yet avoids looking like a copy. It has a commanding presence at nearly 5.2 meters long and more than 2 meters wide. Beneath the frame sits a fully independent air suspension with adjustable ride height — from 180 mm up to 320 mm. A low-range gearbox and three locking differentials complete the serious off-road package.

Powertrain

At the heart of the G700 lies Chery’s Kupeng CDM-O hybrid system. A 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 211 hp works mainly as a generator, while two electric motors deliver a combined 751 hp and 795 Nm of torque. This setup launches the nearly four-ton SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Range is equally impressive — up to 1,400 km — with a 34 kWh battery offering 116 km of electric-only driving and rapid charging from 20% to 80% in just 10 minutes.

Technology and Interior

Inside, the G700 feels decidedly premium: leather trim, a 35-inch full-width display, a 15.6-inch central screen, and a Lexicon surround-sound system. Buyers can choose a five-seat or six-seat configuration, with the latter offering captain’s chairs featuring heating, ventilation, and massage.

The SUV isn’t just about comfort. It features a “tank turn” function for tight maneuvers and even a “swimming” mode, allowing it to stay afloat for up to 40 minutes and move across water at more than 8 km/h.

Market Outlook

The G700 is expected to make its public debut in Dubai in Q3 this year. Pricing has not been officially announced, but Chinese media estimate it between $56,000 and $70,000. With its mix of off-road ability, long range, and luxurious appointments, the G700 could become a serious rival to the Tank 700 and BYD’s YangWang U8. Whether it wins over hardcore SUV fans remains to be seen, but Jetour has clearly entered the game with confidence and ambition.
