Scania presents expanded e-mobility portfolio at Busworld Europe 2025, including new electric platform, hybrid coach, award-winning Touring LNG and upcoming launch.

Scania arrives at Busworld Europe 2025 with what it describes as the most advanced portfolio in its history. The company places a clear focus on decarbonisation, sustainable transport and operating economy — priorities that are rapidly shaping the future of the bus industry.

One of the highlights is the new three-axle low-entry electric platform (LE 6x2*4), first introduced in spring 2025. It offers higher passenger capacity compared to two-axle versions and is already paired with the Irizar i3. A redesigned rear axle, an upgraded e-machine and an improved charging interface underline that this is a serious step forward rather than a minor update.

Another centrepiece is the new powertrain platform for coach applications. It comes in both a combustion-engine version — the Scania Super — and as a plug-in hybrid. The PHEV configuration supports several modes, including all-electric operation with a range of up to 80 kilometres. This enables operators to cut fuel consumption and emissions while meeting zero-emission requirements when entering urban green zones.

The spotlight also turns to the Irizar i6S Efficient PHEV, available for test rides outside the exhibition halls and competing in the Busworld Vehicle Awards. Irizar has already demonstrated strong results with its efficient line-up, including a hydrogen-powered version with up to 900 kilometres of range, which makes the hybrid collaboration with Scania a logical next step.

Gas-powered mobility plays a role as well. The Scania Touring LBG/LNG has secured the Sustainable Bus Award 2025 in the Coach category, highlighting how the use of bio-LNG can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90 percent on a well-to-wheel basis.

Busworld Europe 2025 in Brussels, running from 4 to 9 October, is set to be the largest edition yet, covering more than 86,000 square metres of exhibition space. Alongside the displays, the Busworld Congress will host debates on the future of long-distance operations, with Scania contributing to the discussion.

And while the company has already unveiled a series of innovations, anticipation builds for one more reveal: a brand-new electric product to be launched on site in Brussels. By keeping the details under wraps until the very moment of presentation, Scania underlines its ambition to play a defining role in the industry’s transition towards cleaner and more efficient transport.
