Lexus is closing an important chapter in its history with the debut of the LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition for the 2026 model year. This is not just another version, but a farewell to the flagship sedan that, back in 1989, launched the brand’s luxury journey. The original LS challenged the German establishment with its quiet refinement, advanced engineering, and reliability, helping Lexus establish itself among premium sedans.

Now, 36 years later, the company releases a strictly limited run—only 250 units for the U.S. The car is offered as a mono spec and immediately stands out with a unique look: the deep Ninety Noir exterior debuts for Lexus, while the bold Rioja Red interior appears for the LS for the first time. Heritage Edition emblems on the console and headrests emphasize exclusivity, while 20-inch Dark Gray Metallic wheels and a panorama glass roof complete the distinctive styling.

Under the hood lies the proven yet still impressive 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6, producing 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. The sedan reaches 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Full-time all-wheel drive with a Torsen limited-slip differential ensures confident traction and stability in corners.

Standard equipment includes the Mark Levinson Reference Surround system with 23 speakers and 2400 watts, Advanced Park, a 12.3-inch touchscreen interface, and a Digital Key via the Lexus app. Safety is reinforced by the full Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, featuring Emergency Steer Assist, left-turn oncoming vehicle detection, and an Emergency Driving Stop System.
