Genesis GV60 Magma undergoes final trials before debut
Genesis GV60 Magma has finished global validation in extreme conditions ahead of its 2025 world premiere, marking the brand’s first high-performance EV.
Genesis has officially completed the final testing program for the GV60 Magma, the brand’s first high-performance electric vehicle. Marking the company’s 10th anniversary, the model is set to introduce Genesis into a new segment that blends sports car dynamics with the refinement customers expect from the brand.
The validation journey stretched across continents. The GV60 Magma endured sub-zero temperatures in Arjeplog, Sweden, then faced extreme heat at the California Proving Ground, where engineers evaluated thermal stability and cooling systems. In New Zealand, at 1,500 meters above sea level, the focus shifted to braking robustness, cornering balance, and traction on icy terrain. Spain added a mix of public roads to the test schedule, offering diverse real-world conditions.
The final phase unfolded in Korea, with routes from the Namyang R&D Center to Chuncheon and demanding laps at Inje Speedium Circuit. There, engineers fine-tuned the balance between sharp performance responses and the ride comfort that defines the Genesis identity.
Technical specifications remain undisclosed: no figures for output, acceleration, or battery capacity have been released. Still, the global scale of the program underscores Genesis’s commitment to delivering a model ready for both everyday use and high-performance driving. The brand has confirmed that the world premiere will take place before the end of 2025. Earlier industry reports suggested an initial rollout in Korea, followed by Europe and then the U.S., though no official dates have been locked in.
Industry observers see the GV60 Magma as Genesis’s direct answer to rivals such as the Porsche Macan Turbo EV and Tesla Model Y Performance. At the same time, the Magma initiative is shaping into a broader performance line, with other concepts already revealed, signaling a long-term commitment to high-performance development.
