Polestar introduces the Polestar 5 through a new short film starring Alexander Skarsgard, highlighting design, performance, and sustainability in the brand’s electric future.

Polestar has unveiled a new short film starring Alexander Skarsgard, introducing the Polestar 5 — a four-door electric grand tourer that transforms the 2020 Precept concept into a production reality. Created entirely by Polestar’s in-house creative team, the film offers a refined look at the brand’s design language, engineering precision, and sustainability ethos.

Against a minimalist backdrop, Skarsgard — known for his roles in Succession and Big Little Lies — walks viewers through the car’s defining features and delivers the line, “Fantastic. Tomorrow’s not dead yet,” a subtle nod to the enduring spirit of performance in the age of electrification.

The Polestar 5 is built on the bespoke Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA) made from bonded aluminum, delivering supercar-level torsional rigidity while reducing weight and enhancing safety. Equipped with dual motors — including an in-house developed rear unit — it delivers 650 kW of power, 1,015 Nm of torque, and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, supported by an 800-volt electrical system.

Beyond performance, sustainability remains at the core of Polestar’s vision. Around 83% of the aluminum used in the Polestar 5 comes from smelters powered by renewable energy, while 13% is recycled. Inside, natural fiber composites from Bcomp and Polestar’s signature fabric reduce weight by about 40% and cut petroleum-based materials by half compared to conventional plastics.

Produced in Chongqing and set to launch in Europe at approximately €119,900, the Polestar 5 represents a major milestone in the company’s path toward carbon neutrality. While its performance puts it in direct comparison with the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT, Polestar’s focus is on purity, balance, and sustainability — qualities that increasingly define the future of electric performance.
