2026 Toyota C-HR: refined Mid+ trim and GR SPORT expansion
Toyota enhances the 2026 C-HR lineup with updated Mid+ and GR SPORT variants, offering new colors, materials and efficient hybrid options across Europe.
Toyota has unveiled the updated European lineup of the 2026 C-HR, enhancing both its design and technology while preserving the spirit of the crossover that has become a symbol of urban style and Toyota’s hybrid innovation.
The main updates concern the Mid+ grade and the GR SPORT variant. The Mid+ gains new 18-inch matte black alloy wheels and seats upholstered in Samara fabric, which now incorporates a higher proportion of recycled materials. The refined texture and subtle colors give the cabin a modern and sustainable feel.
The GR SPORT, inspired by Toyota’s motorsport heritage, now becomes available with a 1.8-liter hybrid engine producing 140 DIN hp, alongside the existing 2.0-liter hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. Depending on configuration, it comes with 19- or 20-inch wheels, a head-up display, and optional features such as a panoramic roof and a premium JBL sound system.
Production of the C-HR remains in Turkey at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT), which has also established plug-in battery assembly lines following a €308 million investment. The battery line’s annual capacity reaches 75,000 units. Toyota Motor Europe highlights the C-HR as one of its core models in the region, with more than one million units sold since its 2017 debut.
On the technical side, Toyota continues refining its Predictive Efficient Drive system, which uses cloud data and geo-fencing to optimize hybrid mode operation. The plug-in hybrid version delivers up to 66 km of electric range (WLTP combined) and about 100 km in city conditions, automatically switching to EV mode in low-emission zones.
The 2026 lineup introduces two new colors—Storm Grey and Lunar Sky Blue—and a standard Driver Monitor Camera that tracks driver attention and fatigue. Orders for the updated C-HR are now open across Europe. In other markets such as Australia and New Zealand, the GR SPORT is offered mainly with the 2.0-liter hybrid and distinct local color options, while Japan and North America are not part of the second-generation rollout.
