40 electric Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer join Schlienz-Tours fleet
Mercedes-Benz has handed over 40 eVito Tourer vans to Schlienz-Tours for barrier-free school transport in Stuttgart and nearby districts, supporting sustainable local mobility.
Mercedes-Benz has delivered 40 fully electric eVito Tourer vehicles to Schlienz-Tours GmbH & Co. KG, aimed squarely at barrier-free school transport across the districts of Esslingen, Rems-Murr, Ludwigsburg and the city of Stuttgart. The announcement is dated October 10, 2025 in Stuttgart.
This is not a one-off gesture. Mercedes-Benz and Schlienz-Tours have worked together for years and are now doubling down on electrification. Mercedes-Benz points to the everyday practicality of its e-vans (eVito, EQV, eSprinter), while the operator notes that cleaner, more modern vehicles help both with passenger experience and in the competition for qualified drivers.
The essentials are clear: the eVito Tourer seats up to eight passengers and offers up to 383 km of WLTP range. Actual range, of course, depends on operating conditions—from route profile and payload to temperature and HVAC usage—which matters for school runs and urban shifts.
Company context supports the move. Schlienz-Tours is based in Kernen im Remstal and operates within the Stuttgart VVS region. In 2024 the operator issued a tender for charging infrastructure for electric vehicles—an important precursor that complements today’s delivery and signals a structured plan to expand its electric fleet.
Independent data sources indicate a battery of roughly 90 kWh and DC fast charging up to 110 kW (approximately 10–80% in about 40–47 minutes under suitable conditions). These capabilities give schedulers flexibility: top-ups can be slotted between school services or handled at the depot.
There is also procurement history to consider: Schlienz-Tours has previously purchased large batches of Mercedes-Benz minibuses, making this electric delivery a logical step in long-term fleet modernisation. Given the VVS geography and the infrastructure steps already taken, it is reasonable to expect electric vehicles to gain a larger role in special and school transport as charging capacity grows and route economics are validated.
