Lucid Air Sapphire has been awarded the 2026 German Performance Car of the Year, highlighting its 1,251 PS, 694 km WLTP range, and record-setting acceleration.

Lucid Motors has scored a major triumph at the German Car of the Year 2026 awards, where the Lucid Air Sapphire was named the best Performance Car of the Year. The announcement took place in Munich on October 14, 2025, confirming through a panel of forty independent journalists that the three-motor Sapphire sets a new benchmark for electric super sedans.

The Lucid Air Sapphire represents far more than another iteration of the Air lineup. It stands as a showcase of Lucid’s engineering ambition: three in-house electric motors deliver 1,251 PS and 1,940 Nm of torque, launching the car from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds and reaching a top speed of 330 km/h. Despite its extreme capability, the car remains remarkably efficient, achieving a WLTP range of 694 kilometers with energy consumption rated at 19.1 kWh per 100 km.

In Germany, the Sapphire is priced at €250,000, with business leasing options offered by Lucid Financial Services starting at €2,999 per month excluding VAT. European sales began in the third quarter of 2025.

The GCOTY jury noted that the Lucid Air Sapphire has proven its excellence in one of the world’s most demanding automotive markets — Germany. In the Performance category, it outpaced both traditional combustion rivals and leading electric competitors. Evaluation criteria included innovation, design, driving pleasure, and overall technical achievement. The final overall winner of GCOTY 2026 will be announced on November 17, 2025.

Based in California, Lucid continues to expand its European presence with a focus on technological independence. All Sapphire power units are designed and built in-house, merging supercar-level performance with executive-class comfort. For German buyers seeking long-range capability and true performance, Sapphire’s award signals the growing maturity of next-generation electric vehicles.
