Mercedes-AMG GT Track Sport completes first dynamic test kilometers
Mercedes-AMG GT Track Sport starts track testing after development in Affalterbach, showcasing V8 power, advanced aerodynamics, and radical lightweight design.
After completing the final development phase in Affalterbach during the summer of 2025, Mercedes-AMG has begun testing the new CONCEPT AMG GT Track Sport. The camouflaged prototype, highlighted with yellow and red accents, has covered its first kilometers on race circuits, where engineers are examining the behavior of all systems under extreme load conditions.
The model continues the philosophy of the two-door AMG GT sports car but takes it to a far more radical level. The concept features an optimized weight balance, the signature AMG V8 powertrain, and a refined aerodynamic architecture. Its appearance leaves no doubt about its intent — maximum driving dynamics, lightweight construction, and a focus on the physical limits of performance.
Mercedes-AMG has not released technical specifications but confirms that the project marks a new chapter in the GT family’s evolution. Official data on output and transmission remain undisclosed; however, visual details such as a large front splitter, vent channels, and a swan-neck rear wing clearly indicate a strong connection to the brand’s GT3 racing heritage.
According to Mercedes-AMG, the prototype is undergoing evaluation on various proving grounds and circuits. Specific locations have not been revealed, but many observers believe that the testing program could include the Nürburgring — a traditional benchmark for AMG’s high-performance development.
Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, emphasized that the GT Track Sport embodies the company’s spirit and its pursuit of the limit. He described the concept as a “vision with a promise,” signaling a possible expansion of the GT lineup and a new level of track-focused performance.
For now, the Track Sport remains a concept, yet Mercedes-AMG’s tone suggests it is a stepping stone toward an even more extreme evolution of the GT. The prototype appears to serve as a testbed for technologies that may soon define the next generation of AMG’s track-oriented machines.
