Polestar 4 debuts Google Maps’ live lane guidance, offering AI-powered lane detection and safer navigation on the driver display.

Polestar is taking its partnership with Google to the next level, becoming the first carmaker to integrate Google Maps’ new live lane guidance directly into the driver display of the Polestar 4. Starting November 4, 2025, the feature will roll out in the United States and Sweden.

The system uses the vehicle’s front-facing camera to read lane markings and traffic signs, allowing Google Maps’ AI to determine the car’s exact position on the road. Visual and audio cues on the 10.2-inch instrument cluster help drivers merge or switch lanes more safely and with less stress, especially in dense traffic.

According to Polestar’s Head of UI/UX Sid Odedra, the innovation continues the brand’s focus on a driver-centered user experience that simplifies navigation while enhancing safety. Polestar’s collaboration with Google began in 2020 with the Polestar 2 —the first vehicle to launch with Google built-in. Now, the Polestar 4 marks another milestone in that relationship.

Google confirmed plans to expand live lane guidance to additional vehicles and road types in the future, though specific markets and timelines have not been disclosed. No pricing information or rollout schedule for Germany has been announced, and independent tests or real-world reviews are not yet available. Still, industry observers note that Polestar once again positions itself as an early adopter of advanced in-car technology tightly integrated with Google’s ecosystem.
