The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Hybrid marks the next step in the brand’s dual-track strategy, blending electric innovation with refined combustion technology. From November 4, 2025, European customers can order the new model, choosing between a fully electric or hybrid drivetrain.

At its heart lies a 1.5-liter M252 turbo engine from the FAME modular family, operating on the Miller cycle, paired with a 22 kW electric motor integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Supported by a compact 48-volt lithium-ion battery with 1.3 kWh capacity, the system achieves fuel consumption around five liters per 100 km—among the most efficient internal combustion setups in its class.

In city traffic, the CLA Hybrid can run on pure electric power, “sail” at speeds up to 100 km/h, and recuperate up to 25 kW during braking. Depending on configuration, total system output ranges from 156 to 211 hp, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 7.1 to 8.8 seconds.

German pricing starts at €46,243 for the CLA 180, with leasing for private customers from approximately €325 per month according to Mercedes-Benz. The hybrid sits roughly €10,000 below the fully electric CLA 250+, offering a more accessible entry point to the new generation.

Technologically, the model debuts the MMA platform—an “electric-first” design supporting both BEV and hybrid layouts. The in-house MB.OS with integration of Google and Microsoft AI powers the fourth-generation MBUX system. Its Virtual Assistant can converse naturally and adapt to the driver’s needs, while Google Maps-based navigation and over-the-air updates bring the digital ecosystem closer to the smartphone experience.

Inside, the CLA features a panoramic roof and the optional MBUX Superscreen spanning the dashboard. Comfort and safety systems include the MB.DRIVE Assist suite with adaptive cruise control and automatic lane-change functionality.

The CLA Hybrid bridges the gap between the electric future and traditional motoring. Nearly identical in looks to its EV sibling, it blends smart efficiency with familiar dynamics—a clear statement of Mercedes-Benz’s transition strategy for the coming decade.
