Now on View Exhibition at Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart
Discover the 2025–2027 “Now on View” exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, featuring 30 works from 1948 to today by 22 international artists.
From 11 November 2025, the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart will present a new exhibition titled “Now on View”, continuing the series of displays from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection. Running until autumn 2027, it features around thirty works created between 1948 and today, including paintings, photographs and video art by twenty-two international artists such as Willi Baumeister, Maximilian Prufer, Florina Leinss, Selma Selman and Andy Warhol.
The exhibition unfolds as a journey through time — from Baumeister’s post-war experiments to contemporary reflections on the relationship between humans, nature and culture. Maximilian Prufer turns insects into co-creators of his art by recording their movements on paper, while Selma Selman paints her own life scenes on discarded Mercedes-Benz car parts — a reference to her upbringing in Bosnia-Herzegovina and a statement on social identity.
Florina Leinss and Simone Westerwinter follow the legacy of Concrete and Minimal Art. In her piece Karo Star, Westerwinter disrupts the familiar symmetry of a checkered pattern with a bright pink rectangle, questioning harmony and order in visual culture.
The artworks are integrated into the museum’s permanent exhibition and enter into dialogue with its themes. In the “Gallery of Helpers” room, surrounded by historic emergency and rescue vehicles, visitors encounter Finnegan Shannon’s blue bench printed with the phrase “I’d like to linger here. Rest here if you agree.” — a quiet reminder of accessibility and care in public spaces.
Starting 23 November 2025, monthly family tours will invite visitors of all ages to explore the exhibition. After each tour, children can create their own artworks in the CAMPUS learning centre on Level 0, combining play, creativity and education.
Founded in 1977, the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection now includes around 3,000 works by over 800 artists. It began with Willi Baumeister’s Ruhe und Bewegung II (auf Blau) and later expanded to major projects such as Andy Warhol’s Cars series — the artist’s final large-scale commission. The collection has become a symbol of Mercedes-Benz’s long-term commitment to art, fostering young talents and connecting automotive heritage with modern aesthetics.
