Family Journey with Skoda Elroq: Everyday Electric Living
Discover how a German family adapted to life with the Skoda Elroq after 10,000 km of real-world use, sharing insights into comfort, range, and family practicality.
The story of the Wilk family from North Rhine-Westphalia shows how easily an electric car can become part of everyday life. Six months ago, Silvia and Thomas Wilk, together with their children, picked up their new Skoda Elroq at a dealership in Moers — one of the first delivered in Germany. In half a year, the car has covered more than 10,000 kilometers, fitting perfectly into the family’s routine of commuting, children’s training sessions, and weekend trips.
Silvia was initially unsure about switching to electric mobility, but now she’s convinced she’ll never go back to combustion engines. Her Elroq turned out to be both dynamic and quiet, yet practical in daily use — with a spacious interior, the need to charge only every other day, and the comfort of pre-heating or cooling the cabin before departure. Even the family dog, Bex, has his own space thanks to a safety partition.
The car also proved itself on longer journeys, such as when it towed a trailer loaded with luggage for thirty swimmers heading to a training camp. The electric motor’s power and thoughtful design made the trip effortless, and a single fast-charging stop — less than half an hour — was enough to continue without delay.
The Skoda Elroq, built on the MEB platform, comes in several versions offering between 170 and 286 horsepower and a range of up to 560 kilometers. In Germany, prices start at around €33,900. Despite the end of the Umweltbonus incentive, demand continues to grow: by October 2025, the Elroq became the country’s best-selling electric vehicle with more than 3,300 new registrations.
This family’s experience illustrates how Skoda is turning electric driving into an ordinary, confident, and truly family-friendly part of modern life.
