Porsche expands its fast-charging network with new Himmelkron lounge
Porsche has opened its tenth Charging Lounge in Himmelkron, northern Bavaria, expanding its European fast-charging network and enhancing customer convenience.
Porsche has opened its tenth Charging Lounge in Europe, expanding its premium fast-charging network with a new location in Himmelkron, Upper Franconia. The site becomes the second along the busy A9 motorway after Ingolstadt, strengthening the brand’s presence on one of Germany’s main north–south routes.
Located at the Eurorastpark service complex, the new lounge offers six high-power charging points with up to 400 kW each. Inside, drivers find a comfortable space with refreshments, coffee, snacks, and free high-speed Wi-Fi — turning a short charging stop into a pleasant break. Access is managed via the Porsche ID, and if the vehicle’s license plate is linked to the My Porsche app, the barrier opens automatically.
The charging performance remains impressive: a Taycan charges from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, the Macan in 21, and the upcoming Cayenne Electric in under 16 minutes. At the same time, Porsche has improved the Charging Plus terms, extending free parking during AC charging to 14 hours and waiving blocking fees overnight between midnight and 8 a.m.
The network’s expansion follows a steady pattern. After the lounges in Bingen, Estenfeld, Hamburg, Ingolstadt, Leonberg, Ringsheim, Koblach in Austria, Nyon in Switzerland, and Evendorf in Lower Saxony, Himmelkron marks the tenth location. The company continues to focus on major European corridors, particularly within the DACH region.
Collaboration with Aral pulse remains central to the program. Porsche customers benefit from a preferential rate of €0.39 per kilowatt hour — the same price offered at Porsche Charging Lounges and partner Porsche Centres. Additional Preferred Partners include IONITY, GoFast (Switzerland), Fines Charging (Bulgaria), Iberdrola (Spain and Portugal), and Zunder (France and Spain).
All Porsche Charging Lounges use certified renewable electricity. Some, such as the Hamburg site, also feature rooftop solar panels and heat pumps. Looking ahead, Porsche aims to continue developing the network along key routes, prioritizing service quality and sustainable infrastructure over rapid expansion.
