CUPRA Leon, Formentor and Born receive 5-star Euro NCAP ratings under the updated 2025 safety protocol, as confirmed by Euro NCAP assessments. Learn more in the full report.

CUPRA has strengthened its position among Europe’s safest carmakers, as the Leon, Formentor and Born have once again secured a five-star Euro NCAP rating—this time under the more demanding 2025 protocol. The reassessment confirmed that all three models meet strict requirements for adult and child occupant protection, vulnerable road users, and active safety systems.

The expanded set of tests includes more realistic scenarios, ranging from complex junction situations to interactions with pedestrians and cyclists. CUPRA adapted its vehicles to these updates by equipping the Leon and Formentor with a renewed suite of cameras and radars, alongside an upgraded Front Assist capable of identifying turning manoeuvres, opposing trajectories and potential collisions in dense urban environments. The Born was tested in the 170 kW 59 kWh configuration, which was officially used in Euro NCAP assessments.

In addition to active systems, new virtual crash evaluations were carried out, including side pole impacts, far-side assessments and vehicle immersion tests to confirm the functionality of critical electrical components under extreme conditions. The final percentage scores reflect strong results: the Leon achieved 88% for adult protection and 86% for child protection; the Formentor reached 91% and 86%; and the Born delivered 89% and 87%. Vulnerable road user ratings range between 76% and 82%.

In a broader context, the latest results extend CUPRA’s five-star line-up, which already includes the Tavascan and Terramar. When compared with competitors such as the Volkswagen ID.4, the Born demonstrates similar adult and child protection values, though it trails slightly in vulnerable road user safety. This highlights a wider trend: the updated Euro NCAP standards are raising the bar across the industry, and CUPRA is among the brands adapting most rapidly.

Although it was not possible to confirm whether all listed safety systems are standard across every market, the available information suggests that the manufacturer aims for consistent equipment levels and continues to reinforce its strategic positioning as a modern and safety-focused brand.
