Explore the extended Youngtimer exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, featuring ten iconic models and the rare E 60 AMG, and discover its cultural context from the 1990s–2000s.

The extended “Youngtimer” exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, now open until April 12, 2026, continues to attract visitors drawn to the spirit of the 1990s and 2000s. Its popularity has remained strong, making the decision to prolong the exhibition a natural outcome as interest in young classics continues to grow.

At the center of the exhibition are ten Mercedes-Benz models that once helped define the design language, performance standards, and cultural moods of their time. These vehicles are arranged across themed islands such as “Easy Life,” “Supersonic,” “Subculture,” “Feinsinn,” and “Space,” each highlighting a particular facet of the era’s automotive and lifestyle identity.

Among the notable models presented is the rare Mercedes-Benz E 60 AMG, briefly referenced in recent news coverage and included as one of the key highlights of the exhibition. Its presence reinforces the focus on distinctive engineering achievements and limited-production vehicles that shaped the youngtimer landscape.

The exhibition goes beyond the cars themselves. Original designer fashion, curated in collaboration with Professor Natalie Seng of the TEXOVERSUM School of Textiles at Reutlingen University, adds depth and cultural texture. These pieces complement the automotive displays and help immerse visitors in the aesthetics of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Interactive elements further strengthen the sense of time travel. A 1990s-style arcade racing game, a face swap station, and other interactive installations offer playful engagement that echoes the media environment surrounding many of the featured models.

Outside the main hall, the theme continues. Vehicles such as the A 160 “Häkkinen” and the  C 55 AMG remain on display in oversized, toy-like glass boxes in the parking area, creating an immediate connection to the exhibition’s nostalgic tone.

Ultimately, the “Youngtimer” exhibition forms a cohesive narrative about how comfort, performance, luxury, and personal expression evolved across two decades. Judging by the sustained public interest, young classics continue to shape collective memory and remain influential in contemporary automotive culture.
