Stellantis presents the 2026 Jeep Recon EV, a fully electric Trail Rated SUV with 650 hp and key off-road capabilities. Read a detailed overview now.

The launch of the 2026 Jeep Recon marks a decisive moment for the brand, showing that electrification can strengthen—rather than compromise—its traditional off-road identity. As Jeep’s first fully electric Trail Rated SUV, the Recon blends classic capability with a modern electric powertrain built on a dedicated architecture.

The model uses two Stellantis-designed electric drive modules rated at 250 kW each, producing 650 horsepower and delivering up to 620 lb-ft of instant torque. This setup enables acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds, depending on trim. Estimated range reaches 250 miles, while German reports suggest up to 450 km under different testing standards.

Engineers ensured that the vehicle’s electric performance enhances its off-road strengths. The Recon features independent suspension, protective underbody shielding and optimized final-drive ratios—most notably a 15:1 rear ratio on the Moab trim, designed for serious trail work. An electronic locking differential and the Selec-Terrain system with five modes, including a specialized Rock mode, support controlled progress over uneven terrain. With 9.4 inches of ground clearance and approach and departure angles exceeding 34 degrees, the Recon remains firmly rooted in Jeep’s off-road tradition.

The exterior design mixes heritage cues with forward-looking elements suited to an EV. True to Jeep’s open-air philosophy, the Recon offers removable doors, swing-gate glass and rear quarter glass—all without tools. LED lighting, illuminated grille rings and sculpted proportions reinforce its identity, while the Moab trim adds dark accents, protective components and exclusive graphics.

Inside, the cabin merges rugged utility with modern refinement. Durable materials and flexible storage solutions pair with an advanced digital interface: a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.5-inch touchscreen powered by Uconnect 5. Off-road users benefit from the Trails Offroad app, featuring trail guides for the U.S. and Canada along with pitch and roll mapping. Cargo space reaches about 30.3 cubic feet behind the second row and expands to 65.9 cubic feet with the seats folded, while the front trunk offers room for a carry-on suitcase.

Production is set to begin early next year at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico. Initial launches in the U.S. and Canada are planned for spring 2026, with European availability expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Although official pricing for Europe has not been released, industry sources project a range between €60,000 and €80,000.

Positioned as a pivotal model in Jeep’s transition toward electrification, the Recon aims to demonstrate that electric power can elevate off-road capability. With confirmed technical details and cautiously emerging market information, the SUV is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated electric off-roaders, entering a competitive field that includes vehicles such as the Rivian R1S and, in future electric form, the Land Rover Defender.
