Discover how Porsche presented the restored classic Cayenne and the new Cayenne Electric at Icons of Porsche 2025 in Dubai, showcasing heritage and innovation.

The 2025 Icons of Porsche festival in Dubai brought together more than 30,000 enthusiasts, marking the largest edition to date and turning the Dubai Design District into a meeting point for Porsche fans from around the world. Among the many displays, the encounter between two generations of the Cayenne stood out — a carefully restored first-generation model and the newly revealed Cayenne Electric, shown to the public just days after its digital premiere.

The first-generation Cayenne, introduced in 2002, has long gained cult status, supported by active global communities of owners and collectors. One of the highlights in Dubai was a 2009 Cayenne GTS that had undergone a complete Factory Re-Commission at the Porsche Sonderwunsch department. Finished in Black Olive with matte black lower body sections and wheels, and refreshed inside with English Green leather and the iconic Pasha fabric, it demonstrated how historic vehicles can be transformed into unique one-offs while retaining their original character.

Right beside it, Porsche presented the Cayenne Electric to the public for the first time. The all-electric SUV features the 800-volt PPE architecture, a 113-kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to 642 km. The Turbo variant delivers up to 1,156 PS, placing it among the most powerful models Porsche has ever produced. The model also introduces significantly expanded customisation options, including 13 exterior colours, 12 interior combinations and several interior and accent packages designed to bring both classic and modern Porsche themes into the present.

Together, the upgraded classic Cayenne and the technologically advanced Cayenne Electric showed how Porsche bridges more than two decades of design, innovation and personalisation. One reflects how older models can be reimagined through the Sonderwunsch programme, while the other demonstrates how deeply customisation can be integrated into a modern electric platform. Additional premieres — from the 911 Turbo S with T-Hybrid technology to the 911 GT3 equipped with the Manthey Kit — reinforced the sense that Porsche continues to balance its heritage with forward-looking engineering.

The festival once again proved to be more than a showcase: it served as a gathering place for communities that value both the history of the brand and its vision for the future. With record attendance and growing global interest, the Icons of Porsche formula is likely to remain a key platform for celebrating Porsche’s evolving identity.
