2026 Dodge Durango engine lineup expands as V-6 orders return
Dodge outlines updates to the 2026 Durango as V-6 orders reopen, detailing engine options and availability. Learn what the company announced about the expanded lineup.
Dodge is reopening orders for the Durango GT equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, expanding the lineup as demand continues to rise. The decision comes as the company works to increase the supply of HEMI V-8 engines, which remain in short availability. While production of the V-8 ramps up, the return of the proven V-6 helps maintain sales momentum for the brand’s well-known three-row muscle SUV.
The 2026 Durango lineup includes a wide range of powertrains. The GT trim can now be ordered with the Pentastar V-6 delivering 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, or with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 rated at 360 horsepower, which Dodge describes as the most affordable AWD V-8 in the segment. Orders for the Durango R/T powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 with 475 horsepower are expected to open in the first quarter of 2026. At the top of the lineup stands the 710-horsepower Durango SRT Hellcat with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, still regarded as the most powerful three-row gas SUV.
According to the company, interest in the Durango remains strong, with the model achieving its best third-quarter sales performance in two decades. The wider selection of engines further supports this trend. In Europe, German automotive media report that pricing for the 2026 Durango spans approximately from €36,600 to €69,000, though official regional pricing has not yet been released.
Both Dodge and industry publications emphasize that the Durango continues to stand alone as a three-row SUV offering genuine muscle-car character. Few competitors provide a similar combination of space, power and design, reinforcing the model’s distinctive position among performance-oriented family vehicles.
Certain variants face market-specific constraints: in the United States, the R/T and Hellcat trims cannot be sold in 17 CARB-regulated states due to emissions compliance. For Europe, no confirmed information regarding emissions certification has been published so far, leaving availability in the region uncertain.
What is confirmed is that the Durango SRT Hellcat will offer the Jailbreak package, enabling millions of customization combinations. German distributors also note that full homologation services are available for Dodge vehicles, signaling continued support for the brand across European markets.
