Ford Pro outlines the updated Ranger PHEV, adding new Platinum and Limited trims, expanded technology and safety features. Learn the key changes and specs.

Ford Pro is preparing a significant update for the Ranger lineup, a model that has remained Europe’s best-selling pickup for ten consecutive years. This time, the most substantial changes focus on the Plug-in Hybrid version, which receives new trims, expanded equipment and enhanced technological features.

The most visible transformation comes with the introduction of the Platinum and Limited trims, previously unavailable for the hybrid Ranger. For the first time, the Plug-in Hybrid gains access to premium specifications with the materials and styling typically reserved for top-tier versions. At the same time, Ford is integrating the BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system, a Level 2+ technology already accredited in sixteen European markets and gradually being rolled out across more Ford models.

The technical foundation of the Ranger PHEV remains unchanged: a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine paired with an electric motor and battery delivers a combined output of 207 kW (281 hp) and 697 Nm of torque. The model retains its 3.5-ton towing capacity, roughly one ton of payload and electronically controlled all-wheel drive. Its electric-only WLTP range of up to 43 kilometers adds value for urban use and work on construction sites.

The update extends across the entire Ranger family. All versions now come standard with a 12-inch SYNC 4A touchscreen and a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster. A new safety feature, Trailer Theft Alert, notifies the owner via the Ford app when a trailer is disconnected from the hitch.

Design changes emphasize darker tones and premium finishes: Ebony Gloss Black, Asphalt Black and Dark Chrome define the updated visual identity. The Platinum trim introduces the exclusive Acacia Green Metallic paint, while the Wildtrak variant adds the striking Ignite Orange Metallic color with matching interior stitching.

The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid continues to play a central role in Ford Pro’s strategy, a fact reinforced by its recent recognition. The model earned the International Pick-up Award 2026, marking its fourth victory in the history of the competition — more than any other pickup.

According to S&P Global Mobility, the Ranger maintains a commanding position in the European pickup market, with more than sixty thousand units sold in 2024 and a segment share of 43.6 percent. In several countries, including Germany, the model surpasses half of the market.

Orders for the updated Ranger lineup are expected to open at the end of December 2025, with first deliveries scheduled for spring 2026.
