Christian Nater presents the Sonderwunsch 911 Carrera T “Formosa”
Porsche Taiwan CEO Christian Nater presents the one-off Sonderwunsch 911 Carrera T “Formosa”, inspired by Taiwan’s landscapes. Read the details.
Porsche has unveiled a unique 911 Carrera T “Formosa”, created through the Sonderwunsch programme as a bespoke project inspired by Taiwan’s landscapes — its mountains, coastlines and the rock formations along the island’s eastern shore. The car carries the name Formosa, “Beautiful Island”, a historic European name for Taiwan that reflects the impression its scenery left on early visitors.
The concept is visible from the first glance at the paintwork. The project uses Paint to Sample Ipanema Blue Metallic, chosen to evoke the ocean that surrounds Taiwan. Contrasting accents in Suzuka Grey Metallic — on the rear Porsche lettering, the side window trim and the slats on the rear engine lid — reference the rugged stone formations of the east coast. The 20-/21-inch RS Spyder wheels follow the same logic, finished in Suzuka Grey Metallic with an inner rim bed in Vanadium Grey Metallic. The exterior is rounded out by HD-Matrix Design LED headlights in black and Exclusive Design taillights.
Inside, the “topography” turns tactile. Paldao wood trim is intended to mirror the island’s mountainous greenery, while full bucket seats are upholstered in a bi-colour combination of Truffle Brown and Black leather with distinctive Night Green stitching. The central highlight is a newly developed “Formosa” chequered pattern in Night Green, Black and Cream White — introduced for the first time for this project — used on the seat inserts and key elements of the fully leather-lined front boot, which also features embroidered “Formosa” lettering.
Additional bespoke touches reinforce the narrative: illuminated door sill guards read “Formosa x Sonderwunsch”, and the headrests carry an embossed “Formosa” logo that integrates a 911 Carrera T silhouette with motifs of ocean waves and mountain peaks.
Christian Nater, CEO of Porsche Taiwan, described the car as both a statement of individuality and a celebration of Taiwan — a project where the intent goes beyond premium materials and instead leans on colour, texture and carefully placed details to tell a local story within the familiar 911 shape.
Mechanically, Porsche stresses that the “Formosa” retains the purist character of the Carrera T: lightweight philosophy, a manual transmission and a sport-tuned suspension remain central. In that sense, the project reads as a clear showcase of what Sonderwunsch can add today — moving from isolated custom options to a cohesive design concept built around a single theme.
Given how Porsche frames Sonderwunsch as co-creation of one-offs professionally realised by the manufacturer, projects like “Formosa” may become a more visible way to connect regional identity with the brand’s global icons — without changing what defines the underlying driver-focused model.
