Ford has completed the distribution of 140,000 free NACS adapters, giving its EV owners access to Tesla Superchargers. Learn how this impacts Ford’s charging network and future models.

Ford has completed the distribution of 140,000 free NACS adapters, granting its EV owners seamless access to North America’s most extensive fast-charging network—Tesla Supercharger. This milestone marks a major step in the company’s ongoing efforts to simplify and enhance the EV ownership experience.

The decision to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) was first announced in 2023, making Ford the first major automaker to gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network in the U.S. However, since new Ford models with built-in NACS ports won’t hit the market until 2025, the company provided current EV owners with adapters instead. The move has already shown impact: as of February 2025, Tesla Superchargers accounted for 20% of all public charging sessions by Ford EV owners, highlighting strong demand.

Meanwhile, Ford’s own charging ecosystem, BlueOval Charge Network, has grown significantly over the past year. It now comprises 180,000 charging units at 50,000 locations, a 40% increase compared to early 2024. The number of DC fast chargers has surged by 53%, reaching 44,000, reinforcing Ford’s position as a key player in the EV market.

Alongside the adapters, Ford introduced the Ford Fast Charging Adapter, co-developed with Lectron. The device was rigorously tested for durability, including being run over by an F-150 Lightning, and is now available for purchase at $200.

Ford is also pushing to improve the overall convenience of EV ownership. Through its “Power Promise” initiative, new EV buyers receive a complimentary Level 2 home charger with installation, 24/7 technical support, and an 8-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty.

With these steps, Ford isn’t just expanding access to charging networks—it’s actively shaping a more connected and user-friendly EV ecosystem. In 2025, all new Ford EVs will come equipped with a native NACS port, but until then, the company’s adapters are already reshaping the charging experience for thousands of drivers.
