TRATON GROUP Ends 2024 with Increased Revenue and Strong EV Strategy
TRATON GROUP closed 2024 with €47.5 billion in revenue, a 1% increase despite market challenges. The company continues investing in electrification and forecasts cautious growth for 2025.
Despite market volatility and a slight drop in sales volume, TRATON GROUP ended 2024 on a high note, increasing its revenue by 1% to €47.5 billion. The company—home to Scania, MAN, International (Navistar), and Volkswagen Truck & Bus—has reinforced its market position through effective pricing strategies and an expanded financial services division.
The adjusted operating profit climbed €350 million to €4.4 billion, while the adjusted return on sales improved to 9.2%, surpassing last year’s 8.6%. Earnings per share rose to €5.61, and the proposed dividend stands at €1.70 per share, marking a 13% increase from the previous year.
Electrification remains a major focus for TRATON. Although sales of electric trucks fell 17% in 2024, dropping to 1,740 units, incoming orders for electric models surged 60%, indicating strong future demand. Meanwhile, Scania is securing alternative battery suppliers to mitigate risks following financial challenges at its primary battery provider, Northvolt.
Looking ahead to 2025, TRATON maintains a cautious outlook. The company expects truck demand to fluctuate between -5% and +5%, reflecting broader economic uncertainties. Still, TRATON continues to invest heavily in electric mobility, digitalization, and production capacity expansion. By 2029, it aims to achieve an operating return on sales of 9–11% and boost revenue by 20–40%.
TRATON CEO Christian Levin emphasized the company’s commitment to leading transportation transformation. “We are investing billions in electrification. By 2030, most of our trucks will be fully electric—where the infrastructure allows,” he stated.
As the logistics industry undergoes rapid change, TRATON is betting on sustainability, digital solutions, and a flexible business model. The future of trucking lies in innovation, and TRATON is determined to lead the way.
