Porsche marks the 90th birthday of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche on 11 December 2025 with a collector's 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche, created as a very personal tribute by the brand's Sonderwunsch specialists and his youngest son, Mark Porsche.

The limited series is based on the 911 GT3 with Touring Package. Ninety cars will be built, one reserved for Mark Porsche and 89 available to customers worldwide. The anniversary model uses the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six from the road-going GT3, producing 375 kW (510 PS) and 450 Nm of torque, and it retains the more discreet aerodynamic package with an extendable rear spoiler. Orders are scheduled to open in April 2026, with production to follow in the second half of 2026 once each buyer has finalised their individual configuration.

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, often referred to as F. A. Porsche, was the grandson of company founder Ferdinand Porsche and the designer of the original 911. He grew up at the Schüttgut estate in Zell am See, developed an early interest in form and function, briefly studied at the Ulm School of Design and joined Porsche as an intern in the modelling department in 1957. Under his leadership, what was then known as ‘Studio F. A. Porsche’ created the 901/911, the 804 Formula One racing car and the 904 Carrera GTS, helping to shape the visual identity of the brand. After the Porsche family withdrew from the operational business of Porsche KG, he founded the independent Porsche Design studio together with his brother Hans-Peter in 1972 and later moved it to Zell am See. There he and his team designed modern classics such as the Chronograph I wristwatch and the P'8478 sunglasses, as well as a wide range of industrial products, before he passed away in Salzburg on 5 April 2012.

The 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche translates this legacy into a contemporary sports car. Its exclusive F. A. Greenmetallic paint finish was developed together with the Porsche family and is inspired by the Oakgreenmetallic of F. A. Porsche's own G-Series 911 from the 1980s. From 2026 onwards, cars configured through the Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus programmes will carry a special label on the A-pillar, and this anniversary model is the first to bear the new mark. Further Heritage Design details include Sport Classic wheels painted in satin-gloss black, with a central locking mechanism and historic 1963 Porsche crest on the hub covers, as well as a galvanised gold-plated ‘90 F. A. Porsche’ badge on the rear grille.

Inside, the car is finished in Truffle Brown Club Leather with contrasting decorative stitching in Chalk Beige. The seat centres, glovebox, board briefcase and reversible mat in the luggage compartment are trimmed in a special F. A. Grid-Weave fabric whose pattern is made up of five yarn colours: Black, Green, Truffle Brown, Cream and Bordeaux Red. According to Mark Porsche, the fabric is a direct reference to his father's favourite jackets, which, along with his pencil, pipe and ashtray, formed part of the atmosphere of F. A. Porsche's home office.

The cabin is also dotted with subtle references to his design work. The Sport Chrono stopwatch on the top of the instrument panel is modelled on the original Chronograph I, which was created as a one-off piece for F. A. Porsche. The open-pore walnut plywood gear knob carries a plaque engraved with his signature, while another gold-plated plaque on the dashboard trim combines a facsimile of the signature with the silhouette of the original 911 and the words ‘One of 90’, clearly identifying each car as part of the limited run. The same motif is embossed on the storage compartment in the centre console, echoing the badge on the luggage compartment lid.

Each buyer also receives an exclusive Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche Edition. The watch uses a special Super-LumiNova® luminous material on the hands and indices to create a patina effect reminiscent of aged radium or tritium, and its vintage character is reinforced by the historic Porsche Design logo on the bracelet clasp and crown. F. A. Porsche's initials appear above the day and date display at 3 o'clock, in a position normally occupied by the Porsche Design logo, just as on his personal chronograph. The rotor of the automatic movement is shaped and coloured to match the wheels of the anniversary car, while the caseback is laser-engraved with the limited-edition number (XX/90) and his signature. The case itself is made of ultra-light, durable and hypoallergenic titanium with a black coating, echoing the all-black aesthetic of the original 1972 Chronograph I.

As an alternative to the black-coated titanium bracelet, the chronograph can be worn on a leather strap that matches the materials and decorative stitching used in the interior of the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche. Thanks to the quick-change system, the straps can be swapped without tools. Like all Porsche Design Timepieces, the watch is COSC-certified for chronometer-grade precision and is made by hand at Porsche's watchmaking facility in Grenchen, Switzerland.

The anniversary package is rounded off by a dedicated Porsche Design weekender bag. It is made from the same Truffle Brown leather as the car's interior, with Chalk Beige stitching, and its front pocket is lined with the F. A. Grid-Weave fabric, while the main compartment uses high-quality microfibre. An embroidered badge on the outer pocket carries the same anniversary logo as the grille badge on the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche.

Finally, Porsche is reviving another object designed by F. A. Porsche: the Porsche Junior sled. Originally introduced in the 1960s as a bowl-shaped sports sled offered especially for young fans, it was popular with F. A. Porsche and his children, as family photographs show. The new edition uses a carbon-fibre shell with a Kevlar core, is finished in F. A. Greenmetallic and features a seat cushion covered in the F. A. Grid-Weave fabric. Like the car, it is limited to 90 units, creating a direct link between the anniversary sled and the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche.

In bringing together a highly individualised 911 GT3, a dedicated Chronograph 1, a weekender bag and the reborn Porsche Junior sled, Porsche and the Porsche Design team are drawing a line from Ferdinand Alexander Porsche's design philosophy to the present. The project connects the origins of the 911 and the founding of Porsche Design in the early 1970s with today's Sonderwunsch co-creation programme and the ongoing work of Studio F. A. Porsche in Zell am See, where his maxim that form follows function and that good design must remain honest continues to guide new products.
