Mercedes-Benz unveils MB.CHARGE Public, a new digital charging service replacing Mercedes me Charge. Learn about fixed pricing, MBUX integration, and station reservations.

Mercedes-Benz has officially launched MB.CHARGE Public, a next-generation digital charging service set to replace Mercedes me Charge. The revamped platform introduces a seamless user experience, integrating directly with the MBUX multimedia system, offering fixed pricing plans, and—most notably—allowing charging station reservations for the first time.

With MB.CHARGE Public, Mercedes-Benz aims to make EV charging more intuitive and convenient. Users will gain access to one of the world's largest charging networks, featuring over 2.3 million charging points across 1,600 operators worldwide.

One of the key upgrades is fixed pricing plans for AC and DC charging. In Europe, customers will have three tariff options: S, M, and L, with the latter offering discounted fixed rates, making long-term charging more cost-effective. Current Mercedes me Charge customers will be automatically transferred to MB.CHARGE Public without any pricing changes.

Another major improvement is deep integration with the MBUX system. Now, drivers can access real-time charging station availability, pricing estimates, and route planning directly through their vehicle's infotainment screen or the Mercedes-Benz app.

A standout feature of MB.CHARGE Public is its exclusive station reservation function—a first in the automotive industry. Mercedes-Benz drivers can pre-book charging spots at Mercedes-Benz Charging Parks in Germany and the U.S. If the driver enables Navigation with Electric Intelligence, the system automatically reserves a charging station 15 minutes before arrival. This significantly reduces wait times and enhances the overall user experience. Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to expand the feature to additional locations in the future.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Mercedes-Benz guarantees that an equivalent amount of electricity from renewable sources is fed into the grid for every MB.CHARGE Public charging session in Europe, the U.S., and Canada.

Starting in April 2025, MB.CHARGE Public will also be available for corporate and fleet customers. The Charging Fleet Portal will allow businesses to manage charging contracts, RFID cards, billing, and transactions. The initial rollout will cover Germany, France, the UK, the U.S., and Canada, with further expansion planned across Europe.

While MB.CHARGE Public is still in its early stages, it is already clear that Mercedes-Benz is betting big on digital technology to make EV charging as simple and predictable as traditional refueling. If these innovations prove successful, they could set a new industry standard for electric vehicle charging in the years to come.
