Mercedes-Benz partners with will.i.am’s FYI to launch AI-powered FYI RAiDiO, redefining in-car audio with interactive stations and virtual AI hosts. Learn more about the beta launch.

Interactive in-car radio is evolving: Mercedes-Benz, in collaboration with FYI, the AI-driven media company founded by musician and tech entrepreneur will.i.am, is expanding FYI RAiDiO, an innovative AI-powered platform that enhances how drivers experience in-car audio through personalized, conversational radio stations.

Originally launched last year, FYI RAiDiO merges traditional radio with artificial intelligence, featuring 16 interactive STAiTiONS focused on pop culture, sports, technology, and music. Unlike conventional radio, this platform allows users to engage with content actively. Virtual AI hosts, each with unique voice characteristics, respond to real-time queries, provide additional information about ongoing broadcasts, and tailor content to individual listener preferences.

Mercedes-Benz has been integrating AI into its ecosystem, leveraging Google Cloud solutions and ChatGPT-powered technology to enhance voice command capabilities. The addition of FYI RAiDiO builds on this strategy, pushing in-car audio content to a new level of personalization. A beta program for this AI-powered feature is set to begin in the U.S. for owners of eligible 2024 or newer Mercedes-Benz models (E-Class and CLE) and 2025 models (C-Class and GLC). Additionally, the new CLA will also be included in the rollout.

It remains unclear when FYI RAiDiO will expand to Europe and other global markets, but one thing is certain: AI-driven platforms like this are reshaping the radio industry. Artificial intelligence is already changing the way content is consumed, turning passive listeners into active participants. The question now is how quickly the industry will adapt to these shifts—and what new opportunities they will unlock for users in the future.
