BMW M Motorsport reveals its 2025 DTM team, featuring René Rast and Marco Wittmann with Schubert Motorsport. Discover the latest updates on the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and team ambitions.
BMW M Motorsport has officially announced its driver lineup for the 2025 DTM season. The upcoming championship will be another major challenge for Schubert Motorsport, as the team aims to defend its team title and reclaim the drivers’ championship. Behind the wheel of the newly upgraded BMW M4 GT3 EVO will be three-time DTM champion René Rast and two-time titleholder Marco Wittmann, two seasoned competitors determined to keep BMW at the forefront of the series.
Both drivers will continue racing under their familiar sponsor colors – Rast in the black and blue RoboMarkets livery, while Wittmann stays true to his signature "Green Machine" by Schaeffler. Their 2024 season results speak volumes: Rast secured two victories, one second-place finish, and one third place, while Wittmann clinched a win and another podium. As a team, Schubert Motorsport took four race victories and three additional podiums, securing the team championship.
The BMW M4 GT3 EVO, set to make its DTM debut in 2025, comes with a host of technical upgrades aimed at improving handling and efficiency. Key enhancements include refined aerodynamics, an updated suspension system, and enlarged brake discs. However, a significant variable for the new season is the introduction of new tires, which could require strategic adjustments.
Beyond DTM, BMW is expanding its presence across multiple series. The new M4 GT3 EVO will also compete in the ADAC GT Masters, with Schubert Motorsport and FK Performance Motorsport representing the brand. Additionally, the BMW M4 GT4 EVO will make its debut in ADAC GT4 Germany, reinforcing BMW's ambitions to dominate multiple racing categories.
BMW M Customer Racing Director Björn Lellmann expressed confidence in the team’s ability to fight for both titles, while Schubert Motorsport boss Torsten Schubert emphasized the importance of consistency and focus throughout the season. Wittmann is eager to improve on his past results, while Rast has made his intentions crystal clear – he is gunning for his fourth DTM title.
