Renault is redefining its approach to the B-segment with the sixth generation of the Clio, a model that has shaped the brand’s identity for more than three decades. With nearly 17 million units sold worldwide since 1990, Clio has consistently evolved to reflect changing customer expectations. The new Clio VI continues this pattern, combining a more assertive design, advanced technology and a stronger focus on electrification.

The latest generation has grown in size and presence, pushing the Clio to the upper edge of the B-segment. These new proportions, paired with a sharper exterior and a thoroughly redesigned interior, underline Renault’s intention to move the model closer to higher market segments without abandoning its core urban character.

At the heart of the technical update is the full hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain. Based on a 1.8-litre petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, the system delivers higher output and improved efficiency compared with its predecessor. Certified figures indicate fuel consumption starting from 3.9 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions as low as 89 g/km. In urban driving, the Clio can operate in electric mode for up to 80 percent of the time, highlighting its suitability for everyday city use.

Alongside the hybrid version, Renault also offers a TCe 115 petrol engine, available with either a manual gearbox or an EDC automatic transmission. A bi-fuel petrol-LPG variant is planned for a later stage, further broadening the range.

The interior marks a clear step forward in terms of perceived quality and digital integration. The OpenR cockpit with dual displays, the OpenR Link multimedia system with built-in Google services, and up to 29 driver assistance systems place the Clio VI at the border between the B-segment and larger, more premium models.

Pricing reflects this upgraded positioning. In Germany, the new Clio range starts at around €19,900, while the full hybrid E-Tech 160 version is priced from approximately €24,200. This makes the Clio one of the most technologically advanced offerings in its class.

With increased dimensions, a strong hybrid focus and a high level of digital and safety equipment, the Clio VI represents more than a routine model update. It signals Renault’s intention to gradually shift the boundaries of the B-segment while maintaining the Clio’s long-standing role as a cornerstone of the European small-car market.
