Rivian has introduced a handcrafted wooden EV toy set via its Gear Shop, featuring modular designs inspired by the R1S, R1T, and Commercial Van. Learn the details.

Rivian has expanded its lifestyle merchandise lineup with an unexpected addition: a handcrafted wooden electric vehicle toy set inspired by its real-world models. The modular kit, now available through the company’s Gear Shop, allows fans to assemble scaled-down versions of the R1S, R1T, and Rivian Commercial Van using a shared skateboard-style chassis.

The concept revolves around interchangeability. A single rolling base serves as the foundation, while different body elements attach via heavy-duty internal magnets. Inside the box are two colored bodies, individual tops representing the R1S and R1T, and a gray Rivian Commercial Van body featuring a removable windshield. Rather than a static model, the set is designed as a playful, reconfigurable system.

Material choices reinforce Rivian’s outdoors-oriented and premium brand image. The skateboard base and the R1S and R1T tops are handcrafted from birch wood, while the van body combines birch with MDF. All parts are finished with water-based paint, emphasizing a more natural, tactile alternative to conventional plastic toys.

In terms of scale, the toys are substantial. Each assembled vehicle measures roughly nine inches in length, with heights varying depending on the body style. The fully packed set ships in a large box and carries noticeable weight, underscoring its positioning as a quality-focused product rather than a lightweight novelty.

Priced at $150, the wooden vehicle set quickly sold out on Rivian’s website. As with other Gear Shop items, shipping is limited to the United States, and returns are accepted within 30 days provided the product remains in its original condition.

The product listing also includes a California Proposition 65 warning, noting potential exposure to nickel. Such disclosures are a standard legal requirement in California and appear across a wide range of consumer goods.

The wooden toy set fits into Rivian’s broader effort to build a lifestyle ecosystem around its vehicles. Alongside it, the company offers a highly detailed 1:20 scale die-cast R1T model aimed at collectors. By contrast, the wooden set leans into imagination, modular play, and a family-friendly interpretation of Rivian’s electric lineup.
