XPENG Launches Hong Kong Tech Center and X9 Seven-Seater EV

XPENG opens its first Tech Center in Hong Kong, introduces the ultra-intelligent X9 seven-seater EV, and announces global supercharging expansion plans.

XPENG has marked a significant milestone in its global expansion by opening its first XPENG Tech Center in Asia, located in the heart of Hong Kong’s Wan Chai district. This new center is not only a platform to showcase the brand’s latest advancements in smart mobility and robotics, but also a foundation for introducing future innovations—including in-house developed AI chips and flying vehicles—as part of XPENG’s broader vision for intelligent transportation.

At the same event, XPENG introduced its ultra-intelligent seven-seater X9 to the Hong Kong market, positioning it as a futuristic family vehicle designed for urban environments. The X9 features active rear-wheel steering, significantly improving maneuverability in dense city traffic. Its spacious, starship-inspired cabin offers 7.7 square meters of space, while the trunk expands from 755L to an impressive 2554L. A three-zone independent voice interaction system allows passengers in every row to control in-car functions effortlessly.

Technically, the X9 stands out with a maximum range of up to 575 km and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version producing 496 horsepower. Pricing in Hong Kong ranges from HK$659,900 to HK$699,900, placing it among rivals like the Zeekr 009, MAXUS MIFA 9, MG 9, and Mercedes-Benz EQB.

Crucially, XPENG announced the launch of its own XP Supercharging network outside mainland China, starting with Hong Kong. The first high-power charging stations will be located at Lai Sun Commercial Centre and Convention Plaza. The company plans to integrate a city-wide charging map into its vehicles and app, initially covering nearly 2,000 charging spots across Hong Kong.

Looking ahead, XPENG aims to expand its charging network further into other markets across Asia, Europe, and Australia. Thailand is among the next targets, with international expansion supported by a partnership with bp pulse to provide seamless global charging solutions.

One of the standout technological features is the X-Combo Smart Scenario System, designed to automate daily driving tasks. For example, the system can automatically activate child locks when the vehicle shifts into drive. With over 360 intelligent modules, it adapts to the user’s preferences, creating a personalized and efficient driving experience.

XPENG also continues to develop its over-the-air (OTA) software updates, delivering new intelligent features and enhancements long after purchase. This reflects XPENG’s commitment to leading the smart mobility revolution and promoting sustainable, AI-driven transportation solutions.
