Ram Introduces the 2027 Power Wagon With Cummins Diesel

Ram has delivered on a long-standing customer request by introducing the first-ever Power Wagon equipped with a Cummins diesel engine. The 2027 Ram Power Wagon debuts with the 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo diesel, marking a major milestone for the brand’s most off-road-focused heavy-duty pickup.

The new diesel-powered Power Wagon produces 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque, making it the most torque-rich production Power Wagon to date. Despite the addition of the Cummins engine, the truck retains its core identity as the most off-road-capable full-size pickup in the heavy-duty segment, rather than shifting toward a purely work-oriented role.

Until now, the Cummins diesel was reserved for other Ram Heavy Duty models, while the Power Wagon remained gasoline-only. With this move, Ram combines proven diesel performance with a comprehensive off-road package that includes electronic locking front and rear differentials, a class-exclusive disconnecting front stabilizer bar, extensive underbody protection, Bilstein shocks, and a five-link coil rear suspension.

A key technical update is the adoption of a 3.42 rear axle ratio, paired with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup, already introduced across the Ram Heavy Duty lineup, is designed to balance confident towing performance with improved highway efficiency and reduced engine speeds at cruising velocity.

For the first time, the Power Wagon diesel can be equipped with fifth-wheel and gooseneck preparation, along with an available Automatic-Leveling Rear Air Suspension. These additions significantly expand the truck’s versatility, supporting both heavy towing and long-distance overlanding. A 31-gallon fuel tank enables an estimated 600-mile driving range, underscoring its suitability for extended travel in remote areas.

True to its heritage, the 2027 Power Wagon maintains aggressive off-road geometry, including 13.2 inches of ground clearance, trail-ready body protection, and distinctive exterior details highlighted by Satin Black Cummins badging. Inside, it features the most premium interior in the Ram Heavy Duty range, with available technology such as the 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen and a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.

The 2027 Ram Power Wagon with Cummins turbo diesel is scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2026, with a starting price of $88,470 including destination. By pairing extreme off-road capability with class-leading diesel torque for the first time, Ram positions the Power Wagon as a distinctive flagship within the heavy-duty pickup landscape.
