MAN Truck & Bus reports a new framework agreement with TIP Group for up to 1,800 diesel and electric trucks across Europe in 2026–2028. Read the details.

MAN Truck & Bus and TIP Group have signed a new framework agreement covering the period from 2026 to 2028, providing for the delivery of up to 600 trucks per year. In total, the contract allows for the supply of up to 1,800 vehicles across all weight classes from 7.5 to 42 tonnes, to be deployed in 18 European countries. Depending on the actual call-offs, the overall order value may reach €160 million.

A defining feature of the agreement is the combination of diesel-powered and fully electric trucks. This mix reflects the current phase of transformation in European freight transport, where operators are seeking a balance between established combustion-engine technology and emerging low- and zero-emission solutions. MAN sees the deal as a sign of strong confidence in its product range and as further evidence that the market is steadily moving towards more sustainable logistics.

TIP Group, one of Europe’s leading independent providers of rental and full-service solutions for commercial vehicles, has been focusing on zero-emission technologies since 2024. The company was among the first rental operators to integrate a larger number of MAN eTGX electric long-haul trucks into its fleet. The new framework agreement reinforces this direction, enabling TIP to expand its electric offering while continuing to rely on highly efficient diesel trucks where required.

On the MAN side, the contract is underpinned by a broad and recently updated truck portfolio. In the diesel segment, the manufacturer highlights the PowerLion driveline, combining the D30 engine, the TipMatic-14 transmission and aerodynamic improvements. According to MAN, this setup can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 5 percent compared with the previous generation, translating into noticeable operating cost savings over a vehicle’s lifetime.

At the same time, MAN is pushing forward with electromobility. Its modular battery concept allows electric trucks to be tailored to different applications, from urban distribution to long-haul transport. The eTGX and eTGS models come as standard with a CCS connection supporting charging capacities of up to 375 kW, and they are set to be available with megawatt charging of up to 750 kW from early summer 2026. This development closely links the growth of electric truck fleets to the expansion of high-power charging infrastructure across Europe.

Service and uptime play a central role for TIP as a rental provider. MAN’s service contracts for rental companies are designed to ensure high vehicle availability through scheduled maintenance, rapid repairs and transparent, fixed monthly rates. This approach helps to minimise unplanned downtime and simplifies cost planning for operators using TIP’s vehicles.

Viewed in a broader context, the new MAN–TIP agreement illustrates a pragmatic transition strategy within the transport industry. Rather than an abrupt shift away from diesel, both partners are opting for a gradual transformation, in which electric trucks gain importance step by step, supported by flexible vehicle configurations and comprehensive service solutions.
