Volvo Cars presents the all-electric EX60, a new mid-size SUV with up to 810 km WLTP range, fast charging and SPA3 architecture. Explore the key details.

Volvo has officially unveiled the all-electric EX60, a model that plays a pivotal role in the brand’s strategy for the largest and most competitive electric vehicle segment. Positioned as a mid-size SUV, the EX60 is intended not only to expand Volvo’s electric portfolio but also to reset expectations around range, charging performance and everyday usability.

The headline figure is driving range. In its P12 all-wheel-drive configuration, the EX60 is rated at up to 810 kilometres under the WLTP cycle, the longest range of any electric Volvo to date. Charging performance is equally central to the car’s positioning: when connected to a 400 kW fast charger, the EX60 can add up to 340 kilometres of range in just ten minutes, turning short stops into meaningful top-ups rather than lengthy interruptions.

At the core of the EX60 sits Volvo’s new SPA3 electric vehicle architecture. The platform introduces a combination of mega casting, cell-to-body battery integration and the HuginCore central computing system. According to Volvo, this approach improves energy efficiency and reduces weight while also enabling more scalable and cost-efficient manufacturing. The result is the lowest carbon footprint yet for a fully electric Volvo, on par with the smaller EX30.

The EX60 range includes three main powertrain options. The P12 AWD prioritises maximum range, the P10 AWD offers a balanced alternative, and the rear-wheel-drive P6 focuses on efficiency. In total, seven variants will be available, reflecting Volvo’s aim to cover a wide spectrum of customer needs within a single model line.

Technology and user experience form another cornerstone of the new SUV. The EX60 is the first Volvo to launch with Google Gemini built in, allowing for more natural and personalised voice interaction without the need for fixed commands. Combined with a more responsive infotainment system and faster screen performance, Volvo describes the EX60 as delivering the most seamless digital experience the brand has offered so far.

Safety remains central to the EX60’s identity. The vehicle features a reinforced safety cage using boron steel, an extensive sensor suite that continuously monitors the surroundings, and a multi-adaptive safety belt system designed to tailor protection to different situations. Over-the-air updates are also part of the package, enabling the car to improve its functions throughout its lifecycle.

Alongside the standard model, Volvo also revealed the EX60 Cross Country. This more rugged interpretation adds increased ground clearance, protective exterior elements and exclusive design details, while retaining the core electric performance of the EX60. It is aimed at drivers seeking greater versatility beyond paved roads.

Order books for the Volvo EX60 are now open across European markets. Production is scheduled to begin this spring at Volvo’s Swedish plant, with customer deliveries of the P6 and P10 variants starting in summer, followed by the P12. A launch in the United States is planned for later in the spring, marking a significant step in Volvo’s broader transition to an all-electric future.
