U.S. News & World Report names Hyundai Elantra Hybrid and Tucson among the 2026 Best Cars for the Money. Learn what sets these models apart.

Hyundai has secured two spots on the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Cars for the Money list, reinforcing the brand’s position in the compact hybrid and SUV segments. The recognition highlights the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid and the Hyundai Tucson, both praised for combining long-term value with everyday usability.

The Elantra Hybrid was named Best Compact Hybrid for the Money for the second consecutive year. The model stands out for its strong fuel economy, estimated at around 49 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway, while maintaining a starting price below $30,000. In a market increasingly shaped by affordability and predictable ownership costs, these factors play a decisive role in the vehicle’s continued success.

The Hyundai Tucson earned the title of Best Compact SUV for the Money for the third year in a row and the fifth time overall. Its consistent performance in the rankings reflects a broad lineup that includes gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants, allowing buyers to choose a configuration that best fits their needs without stepping outside the compact SUV class.

According to U.S. News, the Best Cars for the Money awards are based on a balance of vehicle quality scores and projected ownership costs over several years, using real transaction price data. This methodology places the emphasis not on short-term appeal, but on sustained value over time.

The awards will be presented on January 22, 2026, at the Washington Auto Show in Washington, D.C. For Hyundai, the repeated recognition suggests that both the Elantra Hybrid and Tucson are likely to remain reference points in their respective categories as demand for efficient and versatile vehicles continues to grow.
