Chevrolet Reports One-of-One 2026 Corvette ZR1X Charity Sale
Chevrolet says a one-off 2026 Corvette ZR1X sold for $2.6 million at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, with all proceeds donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The one-of-one 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X made headlines at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction after selling for $2.6 million, with 100 percent of the hammer price benefiting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The car was created exclusively for charity and stands as a singular project within Chevrolet’s lineup. Designed as a true 1-of-1 vehicle, the ZR1X draws inspiration from the Stars & Steel collection, a special program developed to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. Unlike limited editions intended for customer orders, this Corvette was built solely for auction, reinforcing its collector status.
Beyond its bespoke appearance, the ZR1X represents the technical peak of the Corvette nameplate. The model combines a twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motor driving the front axle, delivering a total output of 1,250 horsepower. Chevrolet positions the ZR1X in hypercar territory, a claim reinforced by its sub-two-second 0–60 mph capability and its officially cited Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time.
The winning bidder was Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. Along with the car itself, he received a series of exclusive experiences, including the opportunity to personally assemble the V8 engine at the Bowling Green Performance Build Center, a first-ever Corvette delivery inside GM’s Design Dome, and a curated set of memorabilia tied to the project.
Proceeds from the sale were directed entirely to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting families of fallen service members and first responders, as well as catastrophically injured veterans. The foundation provides mortgage-free homes, specially adapted housing, and long-term assistance programs. Chevrolet and General Motors have supported Tunnel to Towers for more than a decade, raising substantial funds through similar charity auctions.
The sale of the ZR1X highlights how Chevrolet continues to use its most advanced performance cars as platforms for broader social impact. At the same time, the brand confirmed the return of its Build Your Own Engine program, allowing future Corvette Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X buyers to participate directly in the assembly of their engines. Together, these initiatives underline Chevrolet’s effort to merge cutting-edge engineering, heritage, and purpose into a single narrative.
