Ford Pro Presents a Taxi Conversion for Transit Custom Kombi
Ford Pro presents a new taxi conversion for the Transit Custom Kombi, developed with Tribus and approved for use in the Netherlands. Learn more about the details.
Ford Pro has expanded its portfolio for professional passenger transport by introducing an official taxi conversion package for the Transit Custom Kombi. Developed in cooperation with the Dutch specialist Tribus, the solution is aimed at the Netherlands, where vehicles can enter service as taxis immediately after conversion.
The package is based on the Ford Transit Custom Kombi with seating for eight or nine occupants, including the driver. It is available for both the fully electric version and the plug-in hybrid variant. A key aspect of the project is that the conversion is carried out locally in the Netherlands and delivered with the mandatory RDW taxi approval, allowing operators to put the vehicle into service without additional regulatory steps.
The taxi conversion focuses on practical adaptations for daily use. These include a panoramic glass roof that also serves as an emergency exit while increasing natural light in the passenger compartment, as well as a TriflexAIR folding and swivelling seat positioned at the sliding door. The seat provides easier access to the rear rows and features signalling fully integrated into Ford’s OEM electronic system, with upholstery matched to the factory interior.
The battery-electric Transit Custom Kombi is equipped with a 71 kWh usable battery, offering a combined range of up to 365 km (WLTP) and up to 497 km in urban driving. Fast-charging capability and overnight AC charging make the electric version suitable for intensive operation, including use in urban low- and zero-emission zones.
The plug-in hybrid variant is designed for taxi operators seeking maximum flexibility. With an electric driving range of up to 53 km, it allows emission-free operation on urban routes while retaining long-distance capability through its petrol engine. The low CO₂ output also contributes to favourable taxation, enhancing the vehicle’s appeal for professional fleets.
The taxi conversion package is priced at €4,995 excluding VAT and BPM and is available through Ford’s official dealer network. Alongside the Transit Custom Kombi, Ford also offers the Tourneo Custom as a taxi-ready alternative, supplied in a passenger configuration without the need for additional conversion.
The launch of the new package underlines Ford Pro’s broader strategy of developing purpose-built commercial vehicle solutions. As European cities continue to tighten environmental regulations and demand for electrified taxi fleets grows, factory-backed conversion concepts like this are expected to play an increasingly important role.
