The MAN TGE Next Level has been awarded the title Sustainable Van of the Year 2026, a distinction that increasingly interprets sustainability in the light commercial vehicle segment beyond the question of drivetrain alone. According to the jury, true sustainability also includes safety, working conditions behind the wheel, and the vehicle’s impact on the urban environment.
The award was given to the MAN TGE Next Level, a designation used for vehicles from the 2025 model year onwards. This update was recognised as a comprehensive step forward, centred on a completely renewed electronic architecture. New control units, sensors and cameras have enabled a significant expansion of driver assistance functions and a marked increase in active safety.
In its official statement, the jury highlighted improvements in comfort, ergonomics and functionality, emphasising their direct influence on everyday professional use. These changes, the experts noted, affect not only driver comfort but also operational efficiency, vehicle performance and the overall quality of work in commercial operations.
The MAN TGE Next Level introduces new assistance systems such as Blind Spot Warning and Drive Off Warning, along with Cruise Assist, Cruise Assist Plus and Turning Assist. At the same time, almost all existing systems have been revised and functionally enhanced. The list of standard assistance systems has also grown substantially, including driver fatigue detection, traffic sign information, intelligent speed assist, emergency brake assist, active lane keeping, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring.
The driver’s workplace has been redesigned as well. A digital instrument cluster, the central MAN Media Van touch display and a new multifunction steering wheel create a more modern and ergonomic environment. A newly designed dashboard provides additional space in the cab, an important factor for vehicles used intensively on a daily basis.
Within the context of the STY 2026 award, these updates are seen as a contribution to sustainability through enhanced safety, improved comfort and better working conditions. The decision reflects a broader shift in how sustainability is defined in commercial transport, where efficiency and safety are increasingly viewed as integral elements of responsible and future-oriented mobility.
