Bentley Motors presents the Bentayga X Concept at the FAT Ice Race, exploring a more off-road-focused direction for the Bentayga through a new concept study.

Bentley Motors has unveiled the Bentayga X Concept at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, marking the beginning of a multi-year partnership with FAT International. More than a show car, the concept serves as an exploration of how the Bentayga could evolve into a more focused and capable off-road vehicle.

The Bentayga X Concept is based on the Bentayga Speed and retains its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 650 PS, paired with permanent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission. The key changes, however, are aimed beyond paved roads. The concept features forged single-piece 22-inch Brixton wheels with off-road tyres, a 120 mm wider track, and a ride height increased by 55 mm. These modifications result in a wading depth of more than 550 mm and ground clearance approaching 310 mm.

To manage the altered stance and additional demands, the air suspension is combined with Bentley Dynamic Ride, the brand’s 48-volt active anti-roll control system designed to balance stability and comfort. The wheel arches have been pushed outward, reinforcing the more purposeful and rugged proportions of the vehicle.

The exterior design reflects the concept’s functional intent. Roof-mounted storage and additional spotlights support extended off-road journeys, while an electric kart from the FAT Karting League has been mounted on the roof to demonstrate cargo capability. A titanium Akrapovic sports exhaust and visible towing eyes further underline the utilitarian focus.

The choice of venue highlights the experimental nature of the project. The FAT Ice Race celebrates automotive culture through ice racing, skijoring, and exhibitions of rare and conceptual vehicles, making it a fitting stage for such a debut. For Bentley, the Bentayga X Concept is not only a striking departure from the traditional luxury SUV formula but also a tool to gather feedback on the appetite for a more extreme interpretation of the model.

While the Bentayga X Concept is not positioned as a production-ready vehicle, its development and public debut suggest Bentley is actively assessing how far the Bentayga’s off-road character could be taken. Combined with the new partnership with FAT International, the concept hints at a broader exploration of capability, culture, and audience engagement within the brand’s future direction.
