Mercedes-Benz has presented the updated Marco Polo for 2026, focusing on interior comfort, digital features and in-house production. Learn what has changed.

The updated Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo arrives for the 2026 model year with a clear focus on what the brand describes as a true “feeling of home on the road.” While the model retains its V-Class foundation, it introduces targeted upgrades to the living area, digital functionality, and a fundamentally new production approach.

The most significant changes are concentrated in the living space. The pop-up roof now features a newly developed aluminium double-shell structure, improving rigidity and insulation, while a rear bellows section raised by ten centimetres delivers a noticeable gain in comfort for both staying and sleeping. Interior lighting has become more versatile as well: integrated LED ambient lighting in the roof offers a range of selectable moods, from functional to atmospheric. A new sliding roof adds more daylight and fresh air and allows an unobstructed view of the night sky.

Practical usability plays an equally important role in the update. The redesigned awning can now be fully mounted and removed, simplifying everyday use, including visits to car washes. New magnetic blackout solutions improve privacy and ease of handling, particularly at night. Numerous smaller refinements further enhance daily comfort, including improved folding tables, optimised drawer runners, a revised control panel at the bench seat, and a more energy-efficient cooling box.

The digital ecosystem continues to evolve around the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control (MBAC) system, which has been part of the Marco Polo concept since 2019. In the latest version, additional functions can be controlled centrally via the head unit or smartphone app, including the lighting in the pop-up roof, the updated audio system, and the new sliding roof. Sound quality has also been upgraded through a new eight-speaker system with a subwoofer, while Bluetooth playback remains possible even when the infotainment system is switched off.

Special attention is given to the Marco Polo HORIZON variant. It adopts most of the new features but is aimed at a different usage profile, doing without a kitchen unit and wardrobe and focusing on short trips and leisure activities. The HORIZON offers exclusive blackout solutions for the rear compartment and comes as standard with window airbags extending from the A- to the D-pillar.

A major milestone accompanies the technical updates. For the first time, the complete camper conversion process is fully integrated within Mercedes-Benz. While the V-Class base vehicles continue to be built in Vitoria, Spain, the transformation into the Marco Polo now takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Ludwigsfelde, Germany. A dedicated production hall with digitally planned, paperless processes and a new flexible conveyor system is intended to ensure consistently high quality and shorter delivery times.

The new Marco Polo will be available to order in 2026, with its public debut scheduled for late summer at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz is already looking ahead: future camper models will be developed on the new Van Architecture, covering both fully electric variants and vans with modern combustion engines. This positions the current update not as a conclusion, but as another step in the ongoing evolution of one of the most recognisable premium campers on the market.
