Polestar is expanding its public charging ecosystem across Europe, strengthening its position in the region’s rapidly growing EV infrastructure market. The Swedish electric performance brand has announced that its Plug & Charge service is now available at more than 28,000 charging stations, while Tesla Superchargers have been fully integrated into the Polestar Charge app.

With Plug & Charge, a Polestar vehicle can communicate directly with a compatible charger and automatically handle payment in the background. This removes several steps from the traditional charging process, making public charging faster and more seamless. The service is offered free of charge when using Polestar Charge. In the Netherlands alone, Plug & Charge already works at more than 750 compatible stations, including those operated by Allego and IONITY.

Another key update is the full integration of Tesla Superchargers into Polestar’s own charging platform. Polestar drivers can now access more than 20,000 Superchargers at over 1,500 locations across Europe directly through the Polestar Charge app, without switching to another app to check availability or start a charging session.

Polestar has also extended this integration into its in-car navigation system, which is based on Google Maps. Real-time availability of Tesla Superchargers is now visible directly within the vehicle’s navigation interface, helping drivers plan routes and charging stops more efficiently.

According to Olivier Loedel, Polestar’s Head of Product Software Management, expanding Plug & Charge and integrating Tesla Superchargers strengthens Polestar Charge as one of Europe’s largest charging services and gives the brand an edge through deep integration between the app and the car’s Google Maps-based navigation.

Polestar Charge currently provides access to more than 1 million charging points across Europe via a single app. The platform brings together major regional networks such as IONITY, Recharge, Total, Fastned, Tesla Superchargers and Allego, along with local charging operators in individual markets. Combined with EV-optimised route planning and the Polestar Charge payment method within Google Maps, the service is designed to make long-distance travel more convenient for EV drivers.

Polestar also highlighted growing interest in its Polestar Charge subscription, which offers discounted fast charging at more than 80,000 charging points operated by 42 providers. In 2025, Polestar Charge reached more than 45,000 users, representing 30% growth compared to 2024.

Plug & Charge is currently available for the Polestar 2 MY26 and the Polestar 3. The service is expected to be rolled out to the Polestar 4 soon via an OTA update. As charging convenience becomes an increasingly decisive factor for EV buyers in Europe, Polestar’s continued expansion of its charging ecosystem could play a key role in strengthening its competitiveness in the region.
