Stellantis reports the Ram 1500 ranked No. 1 in the JD Power 2026 Vehicle Dependability Study, leading the large light duty pickup segment. Learn more.
The Ram 1500 has taken the top spot in the Large Light Duty Pickup segment of the JD Power 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), highlighting a clear step forward in long-term reliability for the brand.
The award-winning pickup improved by 13 points year over year, climbing from fourth place to first in its category. According to the study, the gain reflects stronger durability and improved real-world dependability — key factors for truck owners who rely on consistent performance over time.
The JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study is widely regarded as one of the industry’s most important benchmarks for long-term quality. It measures the number of problems experienced over the past 12 months by original owners of three-year-old vehicles. In the 2026 report, that means vehicles from the 2023 model year. Results are expressed in PP100 (problems per 100 vehicles), where lower scores indicate better dependability.
This year’s results are particularly notable because JD Power reported that overall industry dependability declined slightly. The average reached 204 problems per 100 vehicles, two points worse than the previous year. Against that background, Ram’s progress stands out as a sign that some models are still moving in the right direction even as broader market complexity grows.
JD Power also pointed to infotainment as the most problematic vehicle category, with recurring issues tied to smartphone integration and connectivity functions such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The findings reflect how dependability is increasingly shaped not only by mechanical durability, but also by the performance of digital systems that drivers use every day.
In the Large Light Duty Pickup segment, the Ram 1500 finished ahead of the Chevrolet Silverado, while the Ford F-150 and GMC Sierra were listed in a tie for third. The rankings underline how competition in America’s core truck market is now defined as much by long-term reliability as by power and capability.
Ram’s performance is further supported by Stellantis’ full-size truck and van limited powertrain warranty of 10 years or 100,000 miles, reinforcing the brand’s push to strengthen confidence in durability across its portfolio.
